1. Broken Beach: What to Expect

Broken Beach is a beautiful coastline structure on the southwestern tip of Nusa Penida. The area’s main landmark is a steep rock arch. It’s also known by its native name, Pasih Uug, and it’s a popular site for travel enthusiasts and anybody who wants to enjoy spectacular panoramic views.

The majority of the surrounding area, including the area that includes the famous beach, is made of limestone.

It is most well-known for its vast naturally formed cove and elegantly arched rock formation that allows waves to flow out and into the sea. The gorgeous blue ocean and foams generated in the waves near the cliff’s foot provide an absolutely lovely view.

Broken Beach is a spectacular bay on Nusa Penida Island. This is an incredible location with a large arch through which you may go to the mantas visible from the cliffside.

It’s not just about the beauty of nature; Pasih Uug Beach also has an unusual attraction where dolphins and stingrays swim in the sea early in the morning, according to locals.

2. Broken Beach Location & Address

Located on the southwestern shore of Nusa Penida Island in the Klungkung Regency of Bali, Indonesia, the unique Broken Beach precisely in the village of Bunga Mekar.

Nusa Penida is the largest of three islands off Bali’s south eastern coast; the others are Nusa Ceningan and Nusa Lembongan.

The entirety of the surrounding area is made of limestone, including the iconic beach. The ride to the cliff is a little bumpy, but the view is well worth it and makes for great pictures.

3.What is the best way to get to Broken Beach?

To go to Broken Beach, first go to Nusa Penida Island, which can be reached by fast boat from several Bali mainland ports.

Fast boat services run on a regular basis between Nusa Penida and Sanur in South Bali, as well as Nusa Penida and Kusamba and Padang Bai in East Bali.

So, if you are staying in the southern Bali area, such as Nusa Dua, Jimbaran, Kuta, or Legian, you should cross from Sanur Harbor.

Each trip ticket costs 200,000 IDR and may be purchased at the dock. Boats depart at least once a day.

The ride takes 40 to 50 minutes, depending on the weather and swell—it may be a challenging excursion in bad weather.

Exploring the island on a scooter costs roughly 100,000 Rupiah and you can rent one right from the harbor, but be prepared for uneven roads and many holes to avoid, which will need extra energy.

You will be alright as long as you love riding your motorcycle and are not in a hurry. During your journey, you will be accompanied by meandering streets and natural scenery.

Sanur Port / Local Harbour.

To go to Broken Beach, head to Banjar Sumpang and ask locals for directions. Or simply you can use Google Map.

Once you’ve arrived at the parking area, continue the trail down to the cliffs, where you’ll find signposts pointing you to Pasih Uug Beach.

4. Entrance Fee to Broken Beach

There is entry fee IDR 5,000 per person to enter the beach, and also a parking fee of 5,000 IDR per motorbike. This small charge allows you to visit both Angel’s Billabong and Broken Beach.

And the payment must be made in cash in Indonesian Rupiah (IDR), so bring enough cash with you.

5. Broken Beach Viewpoint

Broken Beach Nusa Penida is a stunning sight with its enveloping cliffs and small pond-like structure developed. The cliffs have sheltered a tiny piece of the sea, making an arch, but not allowing you to swim in the waters of Broken Beach.

The first thing you notice about Broken Beach is that it is a circular hole in the ground with an archway connecting it to the sea. That doesn’t happen every day. In fact, you won’t see like this in many places.

At low tide, these are nicely visible, and the beach isn’t overwhelmed with water. However, during high tide, the sea can become more rougher here, and the dramatic panorama depicted in the photos will not be the same.

Another key incentive to visit during low tide is the nearby site, Angel’s Billabong. You may observe the tranquil and crystal-clear tidal pools facing the ocean when visiting Angel’s Billabong.

6. When is the best time to go to Broken Beach?

Because Pasih Uug is a beach, the ideal time to visit is during the island’s dry season, which runs from April to October.

However, the months of July to September are the best for visiting this beach because there is minimal rain and sometimes none at all.

Even if you visit during the dry season, we urge that you read the guide’s advice before heading down to the shore.

8. Broken Beach Tour

Depending on your travel arrangements, there are a few options for visiting Broken Beach. While many tourists take a day excursion from Bali (either guided or self-directed), I would strongly advise spending at least 1-2 nights on the island of Nusa Penida proper.

This allows you to be more flexible with your day and explore some of the more popular locations without fighting the crowds. If you plan to spend the night on the island, you may either rent a scooter or hire a private driver to get to Broken Beach.

For those who don’t know, the roads leading to Broken Beach on Nusa Penida Island can be bumpy and rocky at times.

It is not suggested that you ride a scooter if you are accustomed with riding on such dusty roads. However, transportation to tourist spots in Nusa Penida is continually improving.

So the ideal method is to take a Nusa Penida One Day Trip with a local expert, such as West Nusa Penida Tour, which is an all-inclusive tour that includes return hotel transportation, fast boat tickets, lunches, and taxes. Chat Bali Magic Tour for your Nusa Penida Land tour arrangements.

Kelingking Beach, Angel’s Billabong, Crystal Bay, and Broken Beach itself are among the most popular destinations on the journey.
