Day 01: Overland Adventure from Lovina Bali to Mount Bromo (with Lunch)
Route: Lovina → Bali West Coast → Rambut Siwi → West Bali National Park → Gilimanuk Ferry Port → Ketapang Port → Watudodol → Baluran → Situbondo → Pasir Putih Beach → Probolinggo → Sukapura → Cemoro Lawang Hamlet (Bromo).
- Pick-up Time: 05:00 AM – 05:30 AM (Highly recommended to start early to avoid Bali’s morning traffic and catch the morning ferry). Final pick-up time will be adjusted based on your hotel location. Guests staying in West Bali may enjoy a slightly later pick-up.
- Total Duration: Approx. 12 – 13 hours (including ferry crossing and stops).
Set off on an extraordinary 2 days 1 night Bali to Mount Bromo adventure from Lovina, journeying in comfort and style through Bali’s picturesque countryside before crossing the Bali Strait into the heart of East Java. At 08:00 AM (Balinese timezone), our team will greet you at your hotel in Lovina, Bali. From there, you’ll embark on a scenic ±2-hour drive to Gilimanuk Ferry Port. Afterward, hop on a ferry for a relaxing one-hour ride across the strait to Ketapang Ferry Port on Java’s side. Upon arrival, we’ll guide you to your hotel in the Tengger district, nestled near the awe-inspiring Mount Bromo.
En route, pause for a delectable Indonesian lunch at a carefully selected local eatery, where you’ll indulge in authentic flavors while taking a well-earned break from the road.
As you ascend into the Tengger highlands, check in to your cozy accommodation, offering a peaceful retreat before your early morning Mount Bromo sunrise expedition. The evening is yours to savor at leisure—explore local dining spots, soak in the serene mountain ambiance, and prepare for the awe-inspiring journey ahead.
DAY 1 – TIMING ESTIMATION:
- 07.00 – Pick up from your hotel in Lovina by a private, air-conditioned car. We will drive along the north coast, via Pulaki, Pemuteran, West Bali National Park and we will stop near Gili Manuk Port for some coffee break if you love to have it. (Toilet available). (Coffee break cost included in the packages).
- 09.00 – (Estimated) Arrive at Gilimanuk Ferry Port, collect tickets, and prepare for the ferry to Java.
(Please bring your passport.) - 10.00 – Ferry departs for Ketapang Port, Java.
- 10.00 – (Expected) Arrive in Java Island and continue the drive along the north coast, passing Watudodol, Teak Jungle, and Pasir Putih. (Java is in West Indonesian Time Zone, which is one hour behind Bali, Adjust your watches upon entering Java.)
- 13.00 – 14.00 – Lunch break at Pasir Putih Beach, with time to relax and enjoy the coastal view.
- 17.00 – 17.30 – Estimated arrival at the hotel in the Tengger district, near the Bromo area. Check-in and rest. Dinner is available at the hotel (additional cost).

Day 02: Bromo Sunrise at Penanjakan (with Breakfast & Lunch)
Route: Hotel → Mount Penanjakan → Banyuwangi
Departure: 02.00/03.00 a.m.
Awaken before dawn for a once-in-a-lifetime Bromo sunrise experience. Climb into a sturdy 4WD Jeep and brace yourself for a thrilling journey across rugged terrain to Mount Penanjakan, the most sought-after vantage point on the Tengger caldera rim. As the first light of day emerges, watch in awe as the sky ignites in brilliant shades of gold and amber, illuminating the dramatic silhouettes of Mount Bromo, Mount Batok, and the towering Mount Semeru, the highest volcano in Indonesia. A veil of morning mist often drapes the valley, casting an otherworldly, almost mystical aura over the landscape.
With the sunrise still fresh in your mind, continue your adventure to Mount Bromo’s smoldering crater. Venture across the vast Sea of Sand, feeling the crunch of volcanic ash beneath your feet. For the ascent, choose between an invigorating 250-step climb or a scenic horseback ride to the crater’s rim, where the raw energy of the earth pulses beneath you.
After an exhilarating morning, return to the hotel for a well-earned breakfast and a moment to refresh before setting off toward Banyuwangi. The drive takes approximately six hours, punctuated by a midway lunch stop at a local restaurant, where you’ll refuel with authentic Indonesian flavors. Upon reaching Ketapang Harbor, board the ferry for the final leg of your journey back to Bali, bringing to a close an adventure brimming with unforgettable vistas and extraordinary encounters.
DAY 2 – TIMING ESTIMATION:
- 02.00/03.00 – Board a non-AC 4WD Jeep and traverse the Sea of Sand, ascending to Mount Penanjakan (2,770 m) for a breathtaking sunrise view over Mount Bromo (2,329 m) and Mount Semeru (3,676 m), the highest peak on Java. (Sunrise expected around 05.15 Java time, weather permitting.)
- 06.00 – Descend to the Sea of Sand, where you can take a 15-minute horseback ride to the base of Mount Bromo. Climb 250 steps to the crater rim for a closer look at the active volcano, then return to the Jeep parking area and drive back to the hotel.
- 09.00 – Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and take a short break before the return journey.
- 10.00 – Check out and depart for Ketapang, traveling along the north coast of Java.
- 13.30 – Stop for lunch at a local restaurant.
- 18.00 – Arrive at Ketapang Ferry Port, collect ferry tickets, and board the ferry to Bali.
- 20.00 – Arrive in Gilimanuk, Bali, and transfer back to your hotel. (Bali time is one hour ahead of Java.)
- 23.30 – Estimated arrival at your hotel in Bali.

2D1N from Bali to Bromo: Best experience and private tour! - I was looking for a 2days-1night tour from Bali to Bromo and I found Bali Magic Tour on Google. During the booking phase they were super helpful in giving me all the extra info I needed, and thanks to a specific link I was able to pay a deposit (and once in Bali the balance) very smoothly and quickly. Although you know are gonna spend maaany hours in the car, it is super comfy, (water always available) and you get the chance to see Bali and Giava on the road and stop at a few local traditional places.
Nyoman was our driver and Wayan was our tour guide, and he taught us everything about Indonesian culture, history and traditions. Also, Wayan made sure we were the first one to reach the Bromo view spot to get the best angle for our photos and provided us with the best glasses and mask to cope with volcano dust
Bromo Sunrise is one of a kind and a must-do experience if you are in Indonesia: I am still amazed! Not to mention the 4WD drive and the horse ride to the crater.
