🚢 Ferry & Logistics (Bali – Java)

• Schedule Flexibility: Tour timing may change depending on traffic conditions and ferry queues. On certain occasions, waiting times to board the ferry can take several hours.
• Adventure Condition: The ferry between Bali and Java is not fully air-conditioned. Please note that this is an adventure journey—do not expect a luxury cruise experience.
• Mixed Boarding: There is no dedicated lane for passenger cars. Vehicles will board together and mingle with trucks, buses, cargo boxes, and motorbikes.
• Local Dining: Lunch will be served at a local restaurant with limited menu options, which may differ from the extensive tourism facilities found in Bali.

• Cold Weather Gear: Temperatures at the sunrise viewpoint can drop to 5–8°C (40–46°F) before dawn. We highly recommend bringing:

🌋 CRATER & TREKKING RULES

• Stay Within Safe Zones: Do not walk all the way around the crater rim. There are no safety railings, and the path disappears into sheer drops and loose volcanic ash.
• Use Designated Paths: Do not hike on the loose dirt outside the stairs. Stay on the designated staircase. Walking on loose slopes causes erosion and poses a massive slipping hazard.
• Obey the Signs: Do not ignore warning signs. Mount Bromo is an active volcano; always adhere to exclusion zones and official advisories.
• Respect the Sacred Site: Do not litter or throw items into the crater. The local Tengger people consider the area sacred. Furthermore, foreign objects can trigger dangerous, explosive reactions inside the active crater.

2. Do I need to bring my passport?
   Yes. A valid passport or government-issued photo ID is strictly required for the ferry crossing between Bali and Java.
3. Where does this tour start?
   Our private tour includes pick-up from major tourist areas in southern and central Bali, such as Kuta, Seminyak, Canggu, Sanur, Ubud, and Tanah Lot. If your hotel is located outside these areas, please contact us for further information.
4. Can we start this tour with a later pick-up time?
   As this is a private tour, we can adjust the pick-up time according to your preference. However, please note that a later start will impact your schedule, particularly your lunch timing and dinner arrival at the Bromo hotel.
5. Can we be dropped off in Surabaya, Malang, or back to Bali after the tour?
   Certainly! We can arrange a drop-off at Surabaya City/Airport or Malang City (additional costs will be advised during booking). Alternatively, if you wish to return to other parts of Bali—such as Pemuteran, Lovina, Amed, or Candidasa—we can easily arrange that. Just send us a message for details!

On the Road & Ferry Crossing

6. How do I get breakfast since the pick-up is between 05:00 AM – 06:00 AM?
   We highly recommend requesting a takeaway breakfast box from your hotel the night before. This is the best way to enjoy your breakfast comfortably during the journey from your hotel to the Gilimanuk ferry port.
7. Can I request stops during the long drive from Bali to Bromo?
   Absolutely. Our driver/guide will gladly stop for short photo breaks at scenic spots, such as the Soka rice terraces, the beautiful panorama of Yeh Leh Beach, or to see the wild monkeys at West Bali National Park (they are usually spotted by the roadside). While driving through Java, we also schedule a short stop at Pasir Putih Beach. If you see anything interesting along the way, just let your driver know!
8. How does the ferry crossing work?
   Our driver/guide will purchase the ferry tickets manually right before entering Gilimanuk Port. The vehicle will then queue up and drive directly onto the lower vehicle deck. Once parked, you can head up to the passenger decks to relax in the air-conditioned indoor lounges, enjoy the outer decks, or buy snacks from onboard vendors.
9. What is the ferry schedule?
   Ferries between Bali (Gilimanuk Port) and Java (Ketapang Port) run 24/7, departing almost every hour. The crossing takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes. While they operate around the clock, schedules may occasionally vary due to weather conditions or routine port maintenance.
10. Are there assigned seat numbers on the ferry?
    No, there are no assigned seats. You are free to sit anywhere inside or on the outdoor decks while enjoying the view of the Bali Strait. However, please remain vigilant with your personal belongings. Do not leave bags, wallets, or mobile phones unattended.
11. What are the toilet facilities like during the long journey?
    Our driver/guide will gladly stop at gas stations or mini-markets whenever you need a restroom break. Please note that public toilet facilities on the road may not match hotel standards. To ensure your comfort and hygiene, we provide tissues and hand sanitizer inside the car

Meals & Coffee Breaks

12. Where do we stop for coffee breaks?
    Day 1 (From Bali): We will stop at a local food stall in Rambut Siwi. Here, you can experience a traditional coffee break paired with Balinese cakes or crackers—a classic stopover for locals traveling through West Bali.
    Day 2 (Before Bromo Sunrise): We will have a coffee break at a local stall at the Penanjakan View Point. These stalls sell hot coffee, tea, boiled eggs, and fried bananas, which are perfect for warming up before the sunrise.
13. Are meals included in the package?
    Yes. The tour includes 2 lunches, 1 breakfast (provided by the Bromo hotel), and 2 coffee breaks as stated in the itinerary. Lunch is served between 12:00 PM and 02:00 PM at local restaurants, cafés, or local food stalls, depending on the tour timing that day.
14. Is dinner included?
    No, dinner is not included. However, you can easily order dinner at your hotel at your own expense. Hotel restaurants are normally open from 07:00 PM to 10:00 PM (Last order at 09:00 PM).
    Tip: Arriving earlier at Bromo is highly recommended so you can enjoy a freshly prepared hot meal. We advise against room service, as food tends to cool down very quickly due to the cold mountain temperatures.

Mount Bromo Experience

15. How cold is Mount Bromo?
    Before sunrise, temperatures can drop significantly to around 5°C – 15°C (41°F – 59°F). We strongly recommend bringing a warm jacket, long trousers, and comfortable closed shoes.
16. What should I pack/wear?
    We recommend wearing a thermal base layer, a windproof/fleece jacket, gloves, a beanie, and sturdy hiking shoes.
17. Is the hike to the Bromo crater difficult?
    The hike is considered moderate and suitable for most travelers. It involves a short walk across the iconic Sea of Sand, followed by approximately 250 concrete steps leading up to the crater rim.
18. Can I ride a horse instead of walking to the crater?
    Yes! A horse/pony ride from the Jeep parking point to the base of the Bromo steps is fully included in our package (approx. a 25-minute ride). However, if you prefer not to ride a horse, you are more than welcome to take a leisurely 25-minute walk instead. (weight for the horse ride is 90-100Kg subject to the horse stamina)
19. How dusty is Bromo? (Especially during the dry season)
    The “Sea of Sand” and the crater trails can become incredibly dusty. Volcanic ash and silica can cause coughing, sore throats, or eye irritation, and will easily coat your shoes and clothes. To keep you protected, we provide complimentary face masks, wet wipes, and dust-proof glasses.
20. When is the best time to visit Mount Bromo?
    The best months to visit are generally April to May and September to October. During these periods, the weather is pleasant, visibility is excellent, and visitor numbers are lower than during the absolute peak summer season.
21. Tipping. Do I need to tip the driver and guide?
    Tipping your driver, tour guide, or local guide is highly appreciated as a gesture of gratitude for their hard work and hospitality. The amount is entirely at your discretion.
